dc.description.abstract Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacteria, Vibrio cholera. In Ethiopia, one confirmed case of cholera is enough to declare an outbreak. Therefore, health workers at all levels must clearly understand the case definitions of this disease and manage the outbreaks in a standardized manner. If the management, including treatment of patients, infection prevention and overall outbreak containment procedures do not follow standard procedures the effect of cholera outbreaks even becomes worse. en_US
