Breastfeeding technique th - March 20 th , 2020. An observational checklist and structured intervieweradministered questionnaire was used with systematic random sampling technique. Double data entry were conducted with Epi-Data 4.6 version and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Bi-variable and multivariable logistic regressions were used to identify the association between dependent and independent variables. Association was measured by using odd ratios with 95% CI and p-value of ? 0.05 was used for final interpretation. Result: A total of 410 mother-infant pairs were observed; with a response rate of 99%. The proportion of effective BFT was 48%. The likelihood of applying proper BFT was reduced among age group <20 compared to age group >30 years. The odds of effective BFT in primipara mothers were 49% lower compared to multiparous mothers. Likewise, the likelihood of effective BFT was 0.45 Conclusion: Just below half of women attending public health facilities in the study area have applied proper BFT. Younger maternal age |
